I have a 2nd Gen that gets hung up on the connecting to wifi stage. just stops and the app says that it can not communicate with the device. I have factory reset it multiple times. Their app is just not supporting the older Generations at all it seems. "lets force the holdouts onto the new ones by blocking them from setting up the older models". Greedy F$#:S.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. If you’re encountering the “can’t communicate” message during setup, I suggest you use a different smartphone or setup device. To isolate a possible network issue, instead of connecting your Chromecast to your home Wi-Fi, connect it to another smartphone’s mobile hotspot instead. Let us know how it goes.
