Video stutter after update

After the latest update some apps have some sort of dropped frames, stutter. Apps like NBA, when watching games but not when watching NBA TV. Also croatian OTA apps like EON TV and MAX TV, both stutter. Sometimes it fixes itself after pressing home and coming back in, but returns quickly. Also there was an update to an app I've never seen before, some dfu remote app for remote updates. I tried factory reset and all kinds of settings, nothing helps. There must be a bug with new software.

same here
apps like vlc, ott navigator and now tv are lagging and stuttering atfer latest update on chromecats 4k
disabling hw overlay in developer options seems to help but it doesn't work with all apps

Thanks for advice, hw overlays helped in the 3 apps that I use! Until, and if they fix it, I can live with this.

Same here. Shutter all over - Plex, HBO MAX, etc. Looks that hw overlay disable works. Any idea if any G devs are looking into this?

I didn't check without hw overlay disabled. Was there an updated rolled out recently that should fix this issue without hw overlay?

Thanks for the reply. The roll-out patch fix hasn’t reached completion. We’re gathering data to compare the number of users that are still experiencing the issue as the roll-out progresses and reaches completion. Same problem. No matter what app I use it's lagging and is not smooth.

Stutter on all apps since de last update..the only way around is to disable hw overlay in developer settings (and everytime Chromecast reboots)..Nothing is fixed since the last October update if there were no patches..

Hi everyone,

Just an update. The ticket status still shows open, and the last message I heard was that Chromecast with Google TV 4K is almost complete, while Chromecast with Google TV HD is halfway through. For the 4K version users, kindly check if you’re still experiencing issues, as it’s possible that it’s already completed. For the HD version users, kindly hang on since we're almost there. We’ll keep you posted.

Chromecast 4k here.Stuttering persist ,nothing is changed, it's been no patches or updates since October security patch, wich caused the issue.There are several reddit post with hundreds of users with the same problem but I'm trying to post here cause seems like there is no response there..Only workaround for now is to disable hw overlay.

Just an update.I received yesterday a new update for Chromecast 4k (December 1 /2023 security patch).After testing stuttering in all apps still not fix.
