Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. If your situation is similar to this post made by a user who figured out a way to make it work, kindly check this out: Solving Chromecast 4k sluggish issue.

If that didn’t help, try this workaround:

Remove the batteries and give it a 2 to 3 minute rest.

While the batteries are out, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to fully drain any static power left on the chipset/motherboard of the Chromecast Voice remote, then release the button.

Let the remote rest again for 2 to 3 minutes. Take this time to unplug the Chromecast device from power and give it a 1 minute rest before you plug it back in.

Test and observe.

If it persists, you can factory reset the remote and pair it again.

If it persists, kindly check if your device is still covered by warranty here: Warranty Checker. If it’s still covered, then you can reach out to our support team for a replacement here: Contact Us. You may choose the option of a live chat or a callback from a live representative. We can also send you a form if you prefer communication via email.

Let us know how it goes. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy,

Thank you for your response. I have tried everything to make it work. I removed the batteries, reset the remote, reset the dongle. Everything is temporary. It is not acceptable that I have to remove the batteries every time I want the remote to work for a couple of hours. To make matters worse when I try to update the remote it fails every time. At this point I've given up and moved on to Roku. Google needs to do better.

Hi Stonypoint,

Thanks for the reply. If that’s the case, it’s best to have warranty claims as long as they're still covered. Anyway, we respect your decision. If you have a change of heart and use your Chromecast again, feel free to post here if you need help.

Warmly,
