Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Are you not getting an option to choose the folder? Or is the folder that has the photos not showing at all? Or you managed to choose it, but the photos inside are missing or not showing on the ambient screen? Kindly give us more details so we know what’s going on and we can help.

I am able to choose Google Photos and the album I want to display, but when Ambient mode turns on, it always displays the Art Gallery instead

Hello Afsheen,

Thanks for the reply. Are the photos in that folder self-uploaded or externally uploaded via a shared folder? If it’s self-uploading, I suggest that you do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset and setting it up from scratch to remove any corrupted files or data.

Hi Afsheen,

Thanks for clarifying that. Could you try to create a personal folder, and in that folder, make sure that you only put personal uploaded photos and not photos that were shared (uploaded) by someone else? Then choose that folder. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Kimy,

I'm having a similar problem to Afsheen. Have a new Sony Bravia, use Google Home to set ambient mode to show Google Photos albums. I select one or more albums. For a while, Ambient Mode correctly shows photos from my albums. After a while - which seems to range from a couple of hours to maybe a bit over a day - Ambient reverts to the default gallery. When I check in the Home app, the Google Photos option is no longer selected.

The switch from Google Photos back to Gallery can happen even while the TV is already in ambient mode.

FYI - the albums I choose are my own, with only my own photos in them.

I don't see the same issue with ambient mode on chromecasts (either the original one from years ago or a new HD one) - for these, the ambient mode seems to stay on Google Photos without problems.

Let me know if there's any more info that I can provide to help resolve this. It's rather annoying.....
