I don't have an easy access to an ethernet cable in this part of the house, but I'll try something in the lines of what you recommend. Just need to buy the parts after work tomorrow. I'll keep you posted

I bought a Chromecast about a month ago and since then, I can't seem to get it to keep a stable connection with Internet.

Before you get all hasty with recommending factory reset of both Chromecast and router, both have been factory reseted twice. I also reduced stuttering by getting it to 50mgh instead of 60. It's plugged on an LG TV with as Asus GT-ax6000 as the router.

Many devices are on the same wifi and the wifi itself doesn't seem to be the issue as I can usually cast 4K movies from my local Plex server without any issues. However when I do a test speed for internet, the upload speed often gets a 0 Kbps as a value and the download can range from 250 Mbps to 80 Kbps. I've run every update available on the system itself and the apps, all my other devices are running decently on the same wifi, my router is flagging the Chromecast on the 5G constantly so now I'm running out of ideas.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

You can use such an USB Splitter

And add an USB ethernet adapter to the USB-A port of the splitter to connect the Chromecast via ethernet to your router to ignore wifi issues and the USB-C port to connect the cable from the power supply.

I use an ethernet adapter with ASIX chipset and it works better for me compared to a Realtek based one.

So in the end I had an old router Asus gt-ax58u that was collecting dust in the corner of my basement so I got it next to the Chromecast and extended the network through AiMesh. For nor it keeps a steady 200+ Mbps. Hopefully that helps the stuttering too.

ok, such a wifi repeater is also a very good option. Nice to hear that this solves your issue 👍
