I always had one chromecast in living room and it worked fine. I would open prime video or max or Netflix go to cast on top right pick living room and done. My son recently bought me a new one for my other room to put in if I wanted to watch anything while in there. I hooked it up as described to HDMI and used chromecast remote for installing . It works fine after I shut off tv and go into living room to watch something I try to cast something on living room tv and it doesn’t show chromecast on my iPhone to cast from only the new one in other room. I had to remove new chromecast from HDMI on new tv just to get the setting cast to back on living room tv.
