Set up remote buttons

Hi. I've just had to replace my chromecast as it went funny. I'm setting up this new one now and I can't complete the steps to control my tv.

I did this on the old chromecast so the tv is not the issue but when I go to settings-remotes&accessories-setup remote buttons and I go to click on add device it just goes round in a buffering circle and then nothing happens.

I could factory reset but I've literally just set it up from factory so I don't see what help that is going to do. I've tried restarting it and also downloading updates for both the chromecast and the remote and still nothing.

If I can't get it to control the tv then it's not the end of the world but it would be great to get it set up.

Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I wanted to see if I could get the Input button working on my Chromecast remote but the options wouldn't allow it so I disconnected the TV and now I can't add it back, so I've lost volume control on the Chromecast remote.

Trying to set up the remote buttons does exactly as you've described:

Setup remote buttons > Add device > TV > [Brief buffering circle] > Back to "Set up remote buttons" menu

Very frustrating!
