I definitely understand your concern about your screen settings on your Sony TV, and thank you for reaching out to Google Support to let us know. You're right, it can be frustrating not being able to adjust screen settings directly on your Sony Bravia TV while using Chromecast. Here are some workarounds you can try:

Adjusting through Chromecast:

Limited Chromecast settings: While Chromecast itself has limited display settings, check the Chromecast app on your phone or tablet. Some Chromecast apps might offer basic picture adjustments like brightness and contrast.

Adjusting through Sony TV settings:

Picture Mode presets: Even though you can't directly change settings while casting, some Sony Bravia TVs have picture mode presets like "Movie" or "Night mode" that adjust brightness, contrast, and other aspects for a more comfortable viewing experience at night. Try switching between these presets to see if one works better.

Regards,

has anybody ever encountered the problem above, not being able to adapt picture settings from a Sony Bravia while using chromecast. i would like to give chromecast less contrast and brightness while watchimng at night but this seems impossible, Chromecast picturesetting have a life of their own so it seems. I both contacted Google and Sony about this. Sony says simply it is not possible when using an external device on a HMDI port. Google advised me to reinstaal the chromecast, which I did, but it didn.t work.

the sony is a 49 inch LED tv connected via Wifi, no cable thus.

Anybody?

Cheers, Wim
