Brand new chromecast remote half working

I just bought a chromecast 4k and i set it up but the volume buttons, home button, netflix, youtube, input button, and voice assistant buttons do not work. I have tried to update the remote but it sits on the update screen saying my remote may disconnect but never moved on from that screen. I tried re-pairing the remote and that didn't work either.

That is significant.

It sounds like you may have already tried all these steps, but check just in case:

If that doesn't work, make sure your Chromecast is not overly obstructed. It can be behind the TV (mine all are) but it's best to not have them enclosed or behind a large cabinet.

Last thing to check is the batteries. I recently had a device act all crazy and it turned out to be faulty batteries. It's worth trying.

Finally, if nothing else works, it may be that you got a faulty remote. You may be able to just return and exchange everything where you bought it or you can request a replacement from Google:

I got it to work thank you. I downloaded the mobile remote on my phone andwas able to restart the Chromecast in system settings and re-pair the remote and it now works for everything except turning my tv on and off.
