Poor image resolution on TV when casting from Google Photos

After all these years with Chromecasts (we have multiple devices in the family: Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast w. Google TV HD and 4K and Sony TVs with Android TV and Google TV), we still continue to experience the same issue that Google obviously ignores:

The image quality when casting photos and videos from Android or iOS devices is terrible, like the design team has chosen to reduce the resolution to something super low.

It is the same issue when casting your laptop screen using the cast feature in Chrome on Windows.

We have found a workaround that delivers FULL resolution and it's a joy watching photos this way:

My daughter has an iPhone and our Sony TVs support something called AirPlay. Full quality and the result is an amazing quality.

I understand that Apple is a larger company than Google and probably attract smarter engineers. But how hard can it be to fix this deficiency in Google's eco system once and for all? The underlying feature of being able to cast content from your mobile device is fantastic and it's sad that this issue with photo and video resolution when casting from Google Photos has never been addressed.

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Chromecast. Can you tell me how far away the Chromecast is from your router?

Here are some things you can try:

Please make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast.
Ensure your network signal is strong.
Verify if your Chromecast is running on the latest software version.
Restart your Chromecast by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in.
If none of these steps work, consider resetting your Chromecast to factory settings.

My devices (multiple instances of Chromecast and Smart TVs with Android TV/Google TV) are all updated even though Sony are notoriously slow in updating their versions of Android TV/Google TV.

I do have a strong WiFi signal and can watch 4k video streams with no issues. It is only when sharing content from Google Photos that I see this issue which suggests to me that it is how the casting is implemented in the Google Photos app that is the root-cause.

The fact that you and other "experts" keep asking about WiFi signal strength and WiFi network names does only confuse the matter. Google need to fix it in the app so it works as good as AirPlay in the Apple eco system.

I have the same issue when trying to use chrome tv to share my laptop screen. The resolution makes sharing useless. 4K chrome tv, 4K screen
