I have been having an issue with my Chromecast with Google TV when using Netflix, Disney+ and casting from some other apps.

When watching anything on Netflix and Disney+, after a few minutes, the video starts to lag behind the video. After pausing and unpausing, the desync is temporarily fixed but it happens again a couple minutes later.

It doesn't seem to be a problem with my TV itself as YouTube and most other apps work fine. I've looked everywhere for anyone who has has a similar problem but I can't find any solutions.

Hopefully someone can help.

Before going in more detailed diagnosis, unplug both the TV and the Chromecast device from the main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.

Observe if the AV sync is ok

Thanks I tried that but it hasn't worked. The AV sync is fine for YouTube but is still going out of sync for Netflix and Disney+

Do you have any other suggestions?

The quality settings for Netflix and Disney are set on auto? If not, put them on auto and observe the synchronization.

Is your TV connected to any external sound system, like an AV receiver or soundbar?

Does your TV model support surround sound?

In Chromecast device Display and Sound Settings set the resolution and framerate to the highest supported.

If issues still persists, force stop the applications in question and open them again to verify synchronisation.

If you do not use a surround sound system, when watching a movie from any application, do not select 5.2 soundtracks, but only the stereo soundtracks.

Ensure that applications are up to date.

Navigate to the Chromecast apps list, select Netflix and Disney, one by one, and clear their cache.

If all else fails, uninstall the applications, then install a fresh version from Google PlayStore.

Switching from automatic surround sound format selection to manual and then turning off everything but Dolby Digital seems to have worked. The TV must not support the newer formats.

Thanks for your help
