Remote will not get into pair mode

Remote worked for a long time then it lost connection and now will not get into pair mode. Tried to reset Chromecast and remote. Neither worked. When trying to pair the remote the white light goes solid and then turns off. no pulse happens.

To gather more information, I'd like to ask a few questions:

What is displayed on your TV screen? Does it display "Set me up?"
Did you receive any error messages?
Does Chromecast keep downloading the update?
Have you performed a factory reset on the Chromecast and the control remote, or just rebooted both devices? Performing a factory reset will erase all settings and return the device to its defaults. For instructions, you can refer to the next article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.
