No settings cog

There is no settings menu in the Home app as described in the instructions for the chromecast audio, only an equalizer and a more menu with "help" and "feedback." How do I access settings for the device? The help instructions point to a button that does not exist.

Did you connected the device via optical port? If so, some settings won't be visible anymore because Chromecast is configured to auto set itself.

No, it is connected via the 3.5 headphone jack.

Force stop the Google Home application.

Reboot the phone.
