Chromecast Ultra not connecting to wi-fi although it worked for 4 years before:
It seems there was a firmware update a few weeks back and since then my Chromecast says it was manufactured for a different country and may not connect to wi-fi in my country (South Africa).
No Chromecast devices seem to be made specifically for South Africa.

I managed to connect the Chromecast to a mobile hotspot once to test after the problems above started, but can't sustainably run it off mobile data (too high data costs).

I have factory reset and restarted many times to try get it set up again using the Google Home app.

Any suggestions please?!

Did you do a hard reset of the Chromecast device using the built-in button? If you didn't, please do its do proceed with the setup routine.

If it complains again about being manufactured in a different country, ignore that and click proceed to continue the setup.

That message is just a warning that the device may not work with certain WiFi channels.

Yes, I have done some of the resets "hard" using the built-in button.

When I ignore country warning and continue, it typically doesn't want to connect to the wi-fi, although it's the same one it used for 4 years with no problem.

You can try to set it up using the mobile hotspot, and then connect it to ethernet, via Google provided ethernet adapter or an micro USB to ethernet adapter.

Try to reboot your WiFi router too, nu unplugging it from the main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.

Ethernet adapter working perfectly, so didn't even need to use mobile hotspot.

Always ran power off one of the TV USB ports, so I didn't even see before that it has an ethernet port on the "power brick"!

So, use the power adapter that came with the Chromecast device.

I assumed you are already using the factory provider power supply, as you should.

Avoid powering the Chromecast device from the TV USB port, because very few TVs will be able to provide the required amount of power to ensure optimum operation of the Chromecast device.

Now try to connect the device to the WiFi network as it should.
