Google Streamer LAN speed.

Hello,

I bought a Google Streamer as soon as they came out, the main reason for it being using the ethernet port in my TVs at home, freeing up Wifi Band and getting a faster and more reliable connection.

Received mine Yesterday, installation and setup were a breeze. Connected through the LAN port, which is specified to go to 1Gbps speed (matching my LAN speed, which is 1Gbps fiber).

Since there's no app on Google TV to run an internet speed test, I used the Netflix app speed teste feature, and I cannot get a speed higher than 277Mbps. I know this is probably enough for most streamed content, but since I do have a faster connection, I want to understand if there is a better or more reliable way to measure LAN speed, if there is a limitation on the device on LAN speed or if there is something that cane be done to improve the speed.

I tested the same LAN cable with my notebook and got a 960Mbps result.

I have been using this Speed Test app that is available for the Google TV Streamer and it has worked well.

As you can see I am getting 975 Mbps directly on the Google TV Streamer.

When trying the Network test through Netflix it was only 269 Mbps, and I made no change to the network. This must be a limit set on the Netflix app.

Rest assured you are most likely getting the best speeds available on your Google TV Streamer.
