Casting from google home speaker to Chromecast with Google TV

I recently replaced my old 2nd gen chromecast to a chromecast with google tv. Before, if I asked my google home speaker to play something from netflix or from disney+, youtube etc it would open the relevant app and start to play on my tv. Now with the chromecast with google tv all it does is show the main google tv screen but does not launch the app to play whatever I asked for. What am I doing wrong or what am I missing?

Make sure all devices are linked to the same Google account and connected to the same WiFi network bandwidth.

Add the Chromecast device to the speaker group.
