Android 12 volume rocker default

Belated upgrade to another phone running Android 12 and now when I'm casting from my Samsung note 10 plus to nest speaker I cannot change the volume with phone volume rocker.

My old Note 9 running Android 10 worked fine.

What Google Nest speaker do you have?

Before troubleshooting, ensure the following:

The Google Home app is updated.

If the app is up-to-date, uninstall the Google Home app, restart your phone, and reinstall the app.
Try casting again and changing the volume with the volume rocker.
