Reboot Chromecast device - unplug it from the main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.

Ensure that your speakers are placed within Bluetooth range (no more than 5 meters in).

In the long run, get rid of these speakers and look at a good soundbar or a Bluetooth audio receiver with analog outputs connected to some good active monitor speakers. Don't hesitate to use audio cable connection because it is stable, low interference and offers high quality sound.

Google Max speakers are discontinued and you can't be shure for how long Google will offer software support for them.

I will try your reboot suggestion. I would think that using Google home max speakers would not have any issues with Bluetooth..

The problem comes from the fact that you might want to connect the speakers as a pair, to work in stereo mode. You may have synchronisation issues and even interferences with other nearby devices.

If you think that they are usefull because they allow to control them with voice, you can do that already with your phone and with the Chromecast with Google TV remote control.

In my opinion, wired audio connections are the best because of their reliability, ease of use and high quality sound.

If you still want to use a wireless audio connection, a soundbar has the advantage of using one Bluetooth receiver and the sound processing being done internally, then routed to the integrated analog stage output.

On the other hand, using a separate Bluetooth audio receiver connected to a pair of high quality active speakers offers you the possibility to expand and update your setup in the future.

The ultimate decision is yours to make.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Google really has a lousy bluetooth connection with their own brand speakers. I unpaired the two max speakers pair and I only connect one to bluetooth and there is no more stutter / crackle noise so far on one speaker.

That's what I was trying to warn you about.

Those speakers needs to spread the Bluetooth field between them, which is not ideal.

It may work from a phone, but wireless connection between multiple speakers, at least at this technological level, will be prone to lag, delays, cutouts, etc.

I use wireless connection between speakers sometimes, at parties, but the Bluetooth receivers that I use are professional stage use level and quite expensive, so not for casual users.

However, if I'm not mistaken, your Google Max speakers have aux input jacks, so, if you want to use them both, you can via a standalone Bluetooth receiver with RCA or jack audio outputs connected to the Max speakers aux inputs.

A standalone Bluetooth receiver can be something like this:

Bluetooth Adapter AEA2700/12

It can connect to 3 devices simultaneously and has multiple outputs.

Alternatively, you can use a high quality digital to analog converter with Bluetooth built-in.
