Google cast never works in my Google Home ecosystem

My google devices never seem to show up as options to cast from Spotify or YouTube or YouTube Music. I have a Pixel 8 and I am trying to cast to Google brand devices like the Chromecast with Google TV, Nest Max, Nest Mini.... I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I can find online and I'm still having this issue.. I'm about at my wits end and going to abandon the Google ecosystem. I've invested too much in the ecosystem for it not to be working correctly (at least 75% of the time).

Are your Google Nest devices working properly otherwise?
Is the only problem when you try to cast using Google Cast on your Pixel 8?

If the Google Nest devices are working properly and the inconvenience is exclusively with your Pixel 8 and Google Cast, you might need to contact the Google Pixel Help Community. They should be able to assist you with your Pixel Phone. For more general troubleshooting steps, the Google Cast Help Center is also a good resource.
