I have plugged into mains power using a 5v 1.5a power supply and it still says plug into a power supply on the screen.

I have reset the device (unplug and wait 1 min and replug in). Still no luck.

This has been resolved, the cable that came in the box is faulty. I tried another (phone charging cable) and it works.

Check your cable if you have this issue.
