Chromecast Remote Issues

I am now on my second remote within 1.5 years of buying this Chromecast. The first remote came with the purchase. The second one I purchased off the Google site to ensure it wasn’t a knock off. After the first remote wouldn’t stay connected to the CC, I bought another remote close to a year ago. Already the main button used to select/play/pause or do really anything has suddenly stopped working most of the time. All other buttons work fine. Has anyone else had major issues with the remote? I now have to use my phone to control the TV which is the whole reason I bought the more expensive Chromecast- to not have to use my phone.

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I am sorry to hear that the button used to select/play/pause stopped working, but no need to worry; help is here. I need to know a few things about your Chromecast in order to provide you with a better resolution.

What is the model of the Chromecast device?
Are you using the original batteries, or did you replace them?
What is the status of the Chromecast remote control LED light?
Have you tried to reboot your Chromecast device?
