No 'Sound Setting' on chromecast

Hi,

I'm trying to change our Chromecast sound option to Surround Sound'. I've looked on the help page and it advises to select 'Settings' - 'Sound settings' - then tap 'Surround Sound".

My problem being that in settings, there is no 'sound settings' option?!

We are trying to change all of our sound settings to surround sound so we can stream apps via our projector and Bluetooth speaker. We been able to manually change Netflix, Amazon prime ...but Disney + has stumped us.

Help would be much appreciated 🙂

If you are using a pc or laptop to stream the content to the Chromecast device, you may experience better results if you use your PC or laptop multichannel audio output.

Usually, video projectors and Bluetooth speakers do not support multichannel surround sound.

Thank you for your reply. We're using a Samsung tablet, and have tried on our Android phones. These all worked perfectly on our previous yaber y30 but have upgraded to a yaber V10 and now we've got audio issues.

Yaber V10 video projector do not have support for surround sound.

Yaber Y30 video projector has support for Dolby Digital only.

In order to be able to play the multichannel soundtracks from Netflix and other online streaming applications, you need a device with the ability to decode Dolby Digital Plus audio soundtracks.

Neither one of your projectors have support for Dolby Digital Plus.

Chromecast have support for Dolby Digital Plus passtrough only, without the capability to decode the format or to extract the Dolby Digital core from Dolby Digital Plus audio.

My suggestion to you is to stick to stereo sound both on Chromecast and on Netflix and other streaming services.

Should I be able to choose the sound settings on chromecast? It's not displaying on any menus in settings?

Chromecast 2nd generation is just passing through multichannel sound, doesn't have the possibility to decode it or alter it in any way.

If your destination device does not support multichannel sound, the Chromecast will not pass it also. For Dolby Digital sound in may perform a downmix to stereo sound.

We did, but found the solution elsewhere.

for anyone who wants to know, we purchased a HDMI - HMDI Audio Converter, this has allowed the audio to be played.
