Chromecast Gen 2 no longer can show Google Photos slide show

I used to be able to configure my Chromecast to show slide show with the contents of Google Photos albums, now I can't find it anywhere in the Google Home 3.30.1.6 settings. Please help.

I have the same problem. I also have trouble with Home actually finding the Chromecast. I finds it sometimes but not always.

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting on the community forum. I understand that the Google Photos slideshow feature isn't working on your Chromecast (2nd generation). Don't worry, I'm here to help.

Make sure the necessary options for setting up Ambient Mode are configured correctly by checking out this article: Ambient Screensaver for Chromecast and Google TV Streamer.
If everything is configured correctly, let's try creating another photo album with some images and see if the same thing happens when you put it in ambient mode.

Sir as you chromecast having issue with setup, i done factory reset the my chromecast after resolving the issue of chromecast setup, my chromecast setup is now complted but I can't fine ambient mode in the settings please help

According to the instruction from the link you provide, I can't find Settings and Ambient in line 3 and 4.

Through the Google Home app

Open the Google Home app .
Tap and hold your device's tile.
At the top right corner, tap Settings .
Scroll down tap Ambient mode.

Are you using an Android or iOS device?
- I am using Android device
When did the situation first occur?
- After the issue with Chromecast Gen 2 was fixed and I was able to connect to mine with Google Home version 3.30.1.6

Please restart the phone or tablet you’re currently using with this device.
- I had done this many time, no different.

Hello folks,

Thanks for posting. To continue assisting, let's explore some troubleshooting options by following these steps.

Open the Google Home app.
Select "Google Assistant."
Tap "Manage all Assistant settings."
Scroll down and select "Photos."
Make sure it's toggled "On."

Once done, make sure that Personal Results is turned on on the specific TV under the same settings in "Photos" by selecting Change Personal Results settings and tapping on Other devices.

I see Assistant but when I pressed it I got a message "Gemini does'nt support this feature".

I switched back to Google Assistant, when I reached Other Devices it seems to keep searching for a device, and never found any, there is a phrase "To turn on personal results, you'll first need to add a device in your Home app.", I do have the device (ChromeCast) in my Home app though!

Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
Open the Google Home app.
Tap the account (the icon with your initial or profile picture). Verify that the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display.
Tap Close to close the account window.
Tap Settings and then Google Assistant and then Personal Results.
Follow the in-app steps.

In addition, can you share with me some screenshots where it shows that the option for slideshows on the Google Photos albums is not showing on the Google Home app?
