I have a Sony TV with an optical connection to a receiver. When I turn on the TV with the streamer remote, CEC also turns on the receiver, but it takes a moment for the TV to switch to the external audio device.

I have had a small problem with this in the past, but it was easily worked-around. If I started playing an in-progress recording on YTTV before the switch, streaming would jump to the end of the recording.

Now, if I'm even running the YTTV app when the switch happens, YTTV completely ignores supported audio formats and defaults to stereo. I have to force-stop the app and restart it. If I wait at the Google TV home screen for the switch, then start the YTTV app, all is well.

I know this sounds like a YTTV problem, but it started happening immediately after installing the latest update to the device. I've tried forcing the supported audio formats in the device settings with no difference.

Hello sinanju,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I understand that you’re experiencing trouble with audio since the latest update on your Google TV Streamer (4K). Don’t worry; it is a pleasure to be able to assist you.

I'd like to ask you a few questions in order to gather more information about the situation and find the best way to fix it.

Is the Google TV Streamer connected directly to the TV?

What content were you playing when the situation occurred?

Is the Google TV Streamer connected through Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

What is the firmware version of this device? To find this information, check out this article: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer firmware versions and release notes.

In the meantime, try to perform these steps:

Reboot the Google TV Streamer.

At the top right of your TV screen, select All settings.

Select System, then Restart.

Check the output format settings.

At the top right of the TV screen, select All settings.

Select Display & Sound, then Audio Options and Output format.

In the section Output format, select Automatic to let the system set the best format.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Yes. And the TV has a digital optical connection to the receiver

Any content. YTTV becomes stuck in stereo until restarted

Ethernet directly to the router

Androd TV OS Build UTTK.250305.003, Patch level April 1 2025

Rebooting: I am a retired SW Architect with 40 years experience. You may assume all of the usual troubleshooting steps have been tried.
Checking output formats: Ibid.

Hi sinanju,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. To continue addressing the situation, let's implement some additional steps.

Try to connect the streaming device to another TV, and check if the same behavior occurs.

Reboot your Wi-Fi router. I recommend disconnecting the Wi-Fi router from the socket and leaving it unplugged for 2 minutes.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
