New ONN streaming device won’t connect to hot spot

Hi. I just bought a new ONN 4K streaming device and the plan was to use it with my mobile hot spot since I’m in the process of moving and don’t want to sign up for internet service for just a week or two. It’s a new 4K unit, the tv is a New high end LG and the phone is a new IPhone 15 plus max with unlimited hot spot. I’m sitting literally 5 feet away from the ONN box with my phone and for some reason it won’t connect. Spent 2 plus hours doing everything possible to get it to connect after downloading a fresh version of the google home app and -nothing. Anyone have any ideas on what might be the issue?? This is really an inconvenience because I went out and bought this for this specific purpose. Oh…. I have an old fire stick that connects to the hot spot perfectly. Come on google really??

Thanks in advance for any help you could provide.

Dave4696
