Google TV Streamer 4K: VPN is Crushing Connection Speed

Hi,
I've got a brand new Google TV Streamer 4K and have installed a VPN (Surfshark)

My connection speed without the VPN is +/-130MB/S, with the VPN I've got it up to +/-60MB/S by adjusting the settings and connecting it with an ethernet cable to my router, initially is was almost zero.

Settings on the VPN -
Location: UK, tried different ones and about the same
Protocol: Tried them all OpenVPN (UDP) seems best
Small Packets enabled
NoBorder is off
CleanWeb is off

I've tried PureVPN and get similar results

I've tested on my phone iPhone 16 Pro on the same network, the connection is around 130MB/S without Surfshark and about 120MB/S with the VPN using all the following settings; NoBorders, CleanWeb, Protocol = Auto defaults to WireGuard

My ISP is Virgin and I've turned off Parental Controls and Anti-virus, restarted everything. These steps made no difference.

Any insights will be most welcome
