Google TV Streamer - Thread Network NAT64 support

Hi,

I am just coming off a support call with the provider of my smart radiator thermostats, which I cannot connect to the provider app for remote control.

The service technician stated that Google TV Streamer does not fully support NAT64 in the broadcasted Thread Network, which is being required by the standard.

There seems to be no official statement or documentation, the only resources available are Reddit comments, stating the same issues.

Effectively, this renders the Google TV Streamer as a barely functioning Smart Home Hub, as devices cannot be connected from remote.

Service technician also stated that Samsung and other manufactures recently released the NAT64 via a firmware update to their devices, now complying with the standard.

Any thoughts, comments, insights and official updates are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I understand that the Google TV Streamer (4K) does not fully support NAT64, which is preventing remote access to your thermostats and limiting the device's utility as a hub. I also see your point that other third-party companies have recently updated their firmware to support this standard. I'm glad to assist you.

Thread allows your Google devices to communicate using a dedicated wireless network alongside your standard Wi-Fi. To establish this connection, please follow the guide below:

Set up your Thread Border Router using the Google Home app.
On the same phone, set up your smart device using the manufacturer’s app.
Ensure the device's firmware is fully updated in the manufacturer's app.
Check the app settings to confirm the connection type says “Thread."

Note: To test the network, turn off your phone's Bluetooth. If you can still control the device via the app, the Thread connection is active.
