Not able to cast when TV streamer is connected through UTP

I bought a Google TV streamer but was only able to get The chromecast functionality working when connected wireless. So far so good. The thing is that I also have a NAS to watch films. As soon as I plug in the UTP cable the chromecast functionality is gone.

I prefer to use the TV streamer only with a cable as it is a more stable connection. Is there a way
to get a cabled connection and the opion to use Chromecast?
