Nest Hub2 using its own Thread network

I now use my Best Nub2 to control a couple of Matter enabled Thread devices (Eve Power, Eve Door& Window). These are also controlled with Thread+Matter by Apple home and an AppleTV4K as border router.

I see the two border routers created separate Thread networks. So obviously Nest Hub2 does not yet use Thread 1.3.0 which would allow merging them. Is this correct? What are Googles plans to fix that?

Great question.
I am not able to find out which Thread version is running on the Nest Hub 2e gen.

Sorry I am not much of a help but I also would like to know the answer. 😂
Also there is no public release notes for the firmware for each device.

what are you trying to achieve actually? it would help me understand what your goal is, and also it may actually help me in the future when installing my own equipment.

Thread since it‘s newest Version 1.3.0 supports multiple Border Routers joining and controlling the same network. My ultimate target scenario is Google Nest Hub 2, Amazon Echo4 and Apple TV4k all in the same Thread network controlling all the iOT devices and forming a super stable redundant mesh network.

so what's the problem? just connect them all together through wifi and or blutooth, and if that don't work, replace the device that has malfunctioned, and start over. good luck community

Why would I want inferior iot tech like WiFi and BT when I am asking about Thread 🙂

So simple terms again: when will Nest devices get the current Thread 1.3.0?

Probably when a half year or a few new stable releases are present.

To implement such tech within devices that have a lot of users needs some good testing. So I am sure they won't be on the latest release every time. Maybe Google waits for 2.0?

yeah I see now! thanks! I had to do a little research to learn about the thread network, hardware and its functions. I see that It could take a while to learn all that's needed to be learned, but it seems very interesting. sorry I was unable to assist with specifics. I hope all is well for you in the future and I hope all the equipment works well in the future as well. thanks for the interesting dynamic that contributed to my wisdom development. I never knew about thread devices, or thread home networks. very good work everyone. But I guess it's gonna be good in the future when I begin to build my dream house. It's gonna be a smart home, wonderful how well everything works out. thank you

I found the thread version using iOS/Mac app called Discovery DNS-SD Browser. Go to "_meshcop._udp.". Pick your Thread Router. "tv" means thread version. It’s probably possible using a similar app with an android but I don’t have one. I don’t know about its mesh capabilities. Technically it’s possible but I don’t see any other thread router with Thread 1.3.0.

Awesome. That app also shows all matter devices! (In a cryptic manner though) it also shows that actually Apple is the culprit here beeing on 1.2.0 still 🙂

What I cant find here are my other thread devices (All Eve). Tips welcome o/

2 pairs of Eve Energy that are thread/Matter

2 pairs of Eve Window that are thread/Matter

several Eve Thermostats that Are Thread but not Matter yet

2 Hue Bridges that are Matter

Several Amazon Echos that are Matter (but no thread)

Apple TV 4K which is a Matter Controller and Thread 1.2.0 Boarder Router for all the Eve devices

Nest Hub 1 (Matter but no thread)

Nest Hub 2 (Matter and thread boarder router for the Eves with matter so far. No luck with the Hue)
