How do I replace a device that has broken but keep the many routines I set up for it working with the replacement? Possible?

I have a smart switch that burnt out.

In the Google Home app, I can’t find a way to do this.

I tried: Giving the new device the name of the old device and renaming the old device didn’t work; the routines refer to the new name of the old device. Searching using the word ‘replace’ isn’t turning up anything useful.

I haven’t deleted the device because I don’t wanna make things worse.

Hi Logicienne,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Good question, let me help you. You can delete the old switch and add the new one. Make sure that it’s working on the native app first before you add it back to the Google Home app. If you want to use the old name for the new device you can do that too. Also you need to delete the action in the routine and add it again and use the new device.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
