Home Routine automation stops once it opens an application

I'm setting some home routines to automate my morning routine. But these 2 events are causing issues:
"Navigate to Work" - Opens google maps and sets the navigation, but then the routine stops and won't proceed unless I go back to the google assistant app.

"Play my Spotify playlist "Liked Songs" " (I've tried it as a manual command, and using the useless 'Play and control media' action), same issue. It opens Spotify and then stops the routine until I tab out.

Hey JRatcliffe,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's see what's going on.

Was it working before? Is this happening to your other routines? Have you tried creating a custom routine to see if you'll get the same result? Try reinstalling your Google Home app and rebooting your speaker.
