chromecast "optimise full screen" appears erratically

Hi,

My objective is to get videos to reproduce on my chromecast, and not in my chrome browser.

When casting from google chrome on my M1 macbook air to my google chromecast 3, I will occasionally get a pop up asking if i want to optimise streaming by playing the video on the chromecast directly instead of mirroring chrome.

This notification appears totally at random. It appears not to depend on the website I'm using or anything.

I've tried right-clicking on the cast icon and selecting/deselecting "optimise full-screen video" and it doesn't appear to do anything.

What can I do to get videos to optimise automatically on chrome cast?

Hi 88josh,

Thanks for reaching out. Chromecast-enabled sites will generally try to automatically switch from casting a tab to an optimized mode of operation if you are already casting a tab when you visit the site. Check out this support website article for more information.
