Nest thermostat

I have two nest learning thermostats in my house. One downstairs and the other in the master bedroom. I recently changed my wifi firewall settings to high settings and the thermostat in the master bedroom went offline but the one downstairs was still available on my app. I tried resetting the second thermostat but when I try reconnecting I get the error code m15. I then changed my firewall back to low security and the thermostat worked fine. How do I set my firewall to maximize security and still have the thermostat working on the app? Thanks
