Both my wife and I have access to the same Home using Google Home. Both of us can access our Smart TV on each of our Android phones using Google Home. Good !

HOWEVER, we have identical problems with Insteon, American Standard (Trane) and Honeywell devices. If one person adds these devices and provides log-in credentials, these devices will be viewable and controllable on their Android phone. Good !

HOWEVER, when the 2nd user tries to do the same on their Android phone, the devices DO appear BUT they are marked "Offline" and are not usable. Bad !

If the 1st user Un-links the devices, then the 2nd user's devices become connected and usable without doing anything. Weird !

Both of us have the proper Apps for these devices and regardless of what Google home is allows, the apps always work properly, allowing control of these devices from the same phones. This proves that there is no network or password issue. It seems to be a Google home issue.

Any suggestions ?

Hi @saxforte,

Thanks for posting in the community and apologies for the late response. A few questions: who is the primary user in setting up all the devices you have at home? Is your wife invited as a home member? Only the primary user can link home automation devices on the Google Home app. Once a home member is added/invited, automatically the devices will sync on their Google Home app. You can follow these steps below.

Manage home members

To let other people, like family members or roommates, use the devices in your home, add them as home members.

Only invite people you trust to become home members. When someone becomes a member of a home, the following info and settings are shared with them:

Open the Google Home app .

Switch to the home you want to share.

At the top, tap Add Invite home member Invite person.

If you don't find "Invite home member," tap Add person to home.

Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home tap Next.

Review what’s shared when you add someone to your home tap Next.

Review the person’s access to your home tap Send.

If your Google Family Group isn’t full and the person you’re inviting isn’t already in one, you should get the option to invite them to your Google Family Group.

To invite them, tap Add to Family.

To skip this step, tap No Thanks.

Note: You can have up to 6 members in a Google Family Group.

The person you invite should receive an email with instructions.

Note: If the person you want to invite has already requested to join your home, you need to accept that request instead of sending a new invitation.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Nikki

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. In our case, I believe I am the primary user in the home in question. However, while I can add the devices to my Home and they work, these same devices do not appear on my wife's device. This is in contrast to our home TV which both of us can see and control. If she tries to add these same devices to her Home, then they appear but do not function. If I remove them from my device, they will begin working on her device. But we have never got them to work on both devices. If we go in reverse, adding them to her Home, they will work, without appearing on my device. If I add them to my Home, they appear but will not work.

Thanks for clarifying. Could you check your wife's Google Home app and see if she is on the right home structure? If you can attach a screenshot of the home structure that will help us narrow it down.

Hi, Can you elaborate on what the "right home structure" is ? Both of our Home screens look identical.

Also, how can we make sure of who is the "primary user" ? I think I am, but she set up her Home in another location first, so I am not 100% positive.

To further clarify, both of us have 2 "Homes" for 2 different locations on each of our devices and these are accessible from the same Home screen via a drop down. The problem we are experiencing is only in one location as only this Home has more than a TV which is "works with google" capable. Thanks.
