Compressor/Condenser cycles of then back on.

I have the 3rd Gen thermostat with a sensor connected to it.

I'm having a major issue with the AC compressor/condensor cycle off and while the fan system is still circulating to cycle off the compressor/condensor kicks right back on. This happens a few times during the day and night. I'm sure this will evenuatly damage my sytem if I let this continue. The system does work fine when it cycles correctly. Could it be the sensor causing this?

I had this issue on an earlier post and filled out the form for help but wasn't resolved. Can someone revisit this and assist?

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

Have you checked if your air filter is already dirty or needs to be changed? If not yet, I recommend you check for it since a clogged filter might cause the symptom. You can view this article for more details, then let us know how it goes.

Dan,

After a year burning up the fan and 2 capacitors in my condenser I’ve solved the problem.

I have a very large master bed & bath. I had the sensor in the bath area because it’s warmer and wanted the ac to cool this area. In the past I’ve noticed if we’re in the bath area with a smart phone or tablet the WiFi lags. With that I found the thermostat having the same issue trying to see the sensor being in a dead zone area. What this did was the condenser would turn off and while the fan was cycling to off the condenser would kick right back on with 5 seconds. This is what damaged the condenser several times.

Please pass this information to Nest techs and to let consumers know to be aware of sensors being in dead zone areas in homes.

Forgot to mention how to I fixed the issue. Simply moved it for the bath area to bedroom so the thermostat can see the sensor.

Thanks for the hats off but it took having the condenser brake 3 times over a year to figure it out. The only reason I stuck with Nest was having the sensor control the temperature over the thermostat being it is in a hallway that feels the Den AC unit from the opposite side of my home.
