Hi everyone,

@RAZMD, thanks for bringing this up. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and ideas. I understand that some features are not what you're expecting. You can also create custom Activity Zones to further reduce the amount of activity your Nest Camera detects. Use the app to draw an Activity Zone around a part of your Nest Camera's view, then select the event notifications you want to receive for that zone.

Give these steps a try:

Try changing the angle of it.

Adjust your Nest Camera's angle so that areas with a lot of unwanted activity are out of view of the live stream.

You may shorten the maximum event length, it will help reduce battery usage.

Here's how to shorten the maximum event length:

Open the Google Home app .

Tap Favorites or Devices .

Tap and hold your device's tile More Settings .

Tap Video Maximum event length choose a shorter event length.

@naisanza, were there any changes to the Wi-Fi network? Are there other family members who can access the camera? Do they receive any notifications? Has your Nest Camera been moved recently? Are there any Activity Zones set up?

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

New upgrade a step backwards.

Since the software update a few months back the Google home App opens with all nest cameras turned on.

This is a change from the old software and step backward. Before the upgrade the app would open with cameras in "idle" and you would choose the camera which notified you of motion detected. Straight forward, no issue. Now opening the app causes all of the cameras to turn on and open in "live" and are burning battery life. To see the history on the camera that sent the notification, all the other cameras are now sitting in "live". Camera life of 3-4 months now has decreased to 4-5 weeks. There is no reason to open all cameras live just because I check the front door nest camera multiple times a day for mail, packages, and other notifications.

Nest Camera tech help says "your are right. The new upgrade has changed this. And there is no way to open only one camera at a time." In fact they sent the link to this forum and told me to share this issue. Does anyone have a work around? Thanks

Yeah support was zero help. Pretty much just said to submit a feedback.

https://google.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2aStd8wsbcLGvwG

Also Nest Doorbell Camera will not detect any motion unless the camera is ON and burning battery.

Major step backwards.
