Need to update/replace google home app on a phone

I'm having problems with Google Home App on my pixel 5a 5g. Get a blank screen when saving a routine and problems when i edit a routine. editing the routine on a pixel 3a works fine. so i would like to uninstall and reinstall the app but not loose my 20+ connected smart devices. will doing an uninstall and install preserve my devices. tried to doing a google search on this but just get back deleting a home in the app will loose the connected devices. can someone provide a link to an official google url that describes this. thanks

okay, solved my own problem. if you uninstall the google home app and then reinstall it, all devices are still linked.
