I have my learning thermostat to come on at 6:30 to 68 degrees. I do not have any Eco setting or setting to come on early to warm up to 68 at 6:30, so no special learning setting either. It comes on exactly at 6:30 warms to 68 perfectly, then sets back one degree to 67 and stays there. Why the setback?

Hi joemkraus,

Thanks for bringing this up here in the Google Nest community. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you. This delay is commonly called the maintenance band, deadband, differential, or temperature swing. The delay is usually just a few minutes, but it’s there to help your system. Many thermostat brands and models also use the maintenance band to help prevent system wear.

When your heating or cooling turns on and off frequently, it can use more energy and may increase wear on your system. To help prevent this, your Nest thermostat will wait to turn on your system.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Best,

Renz

OK, it seems to "stay" at 67, but I will give it more time and wait and see, thanks
