So I have the google thermostat and I have an old furnace that only has a W and R wire. I have bought the power connector but now that I have connected the power connector the thermostat isn’t detecting the W wire. When I don’t have the power connector connected the thermostat does detect the W wire. How can I fix this?

Hi iwdavis02,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. I'd like to take a closer look at it. Could you please take a photo and share with us on how your Nest Power Connector installed? Also, check your thermostat's power readouts with and without Nest Power Connector.

Check out this guide:

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.

Go to Settings.

Look for Technical Info.

Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

Open the Google Home app tap the thermostat tap Settings .

Select the Device Information.

Choose Technical Information.

Best,

I don’t have a picture as it’s not currently installed. They way I had it installed was the red wire, from the heating unit, connected to the R wire, on the power connector and the white wire connected to the W wire on the power connector. Then I had the R to R, W to W and the C to C from the power connector to the nest thermostat itself. I believe when I check it both with and without the power connector it had 24v of power.
