Nest thermostat not functioning properly

I installed a Google nest learning thermostat earlier this year in my living room. It has been very inconsistent with heating and cooling our house. We have turned off all 'learning options' and set a daily schedule of when we want the system to turn on and off and what Temps we want. It won't follow the schedule. Coming downstairs in the winter and having it be 65 degrees when it is set to come on at 6am at 71 degrees is very frustrating. We have to turn the thermostat on and off to get it going or turn the heat up to some very high number 85+ degrees to come on. Working from home the Temps will drop to 68 degrees and it doesn't kick on despite being set for 71 all day. This is extreme frustrating. We have checked and double-checked all settings, it simply won't follow our schedule. Getting ready to replace this with one that will work!!! Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Check the Wi-Fi connection on your thermostat. Poor connectivity can affect its ability to receive and follow the programmed schedule. If needed, reconnect or troubleshoot your Wi-Fi connection.
Confirm that the temperature sensors on the thermostat are calibrated correctly. Incorrect readings might cause the system to behave unexpectedly. You can usually find this option in the thermostat settings.
Ensure that your thermostat has the latest software update.
Disable the Home and Away Assist.
Remove all thermostat actions available in Routines on the Google Home app.
Restart your thermostat if any changes have been made to its settings.
