Automation routines place of execution

Hi,

I am trying to figure out where the automation routines are executed. Could not find the answer in these posts, nor at Google pages.

It seems essential that they are executed locally, otherwise the home would be dysfunctional in case of internet outage. Further if they are executed locally, which I really hope, then it would be useful to know in which (nest) device in order to secure that with a battery backup.

I am grateful for any clue on this. If no answer, my next option is to start to test...

Unlike an Aeotec (Smart Things) or Aqara or Switchbot Hub where you can have things running locally that isnt the case with Google Currently.

Keep in mind that those other ecosystems I mentioned only enabled local running in the past 2 or so years
