topic Wifi issues - total internet connection lost in home in Home Automation

My WIFI was disconnected for about 24 hours due to a storm. The thermostat, of course, would not function. Luckily the weather wasn't too cold and my home only got down to about 66. In the future, how do I control the thermostat without a WIFI connection... using a manual set up? Had this happened in the middle of winter, it would have possibly been a serious issue. I have searched through the FAQ's but Google doesn't seem to understand that Wi-Fi sometimes doesn't exist. Same thing occurs with bad storms in the summer, so there must be an override. I need to be prepared for that ---- otherwise this thing is useless. Thanks!
