Chromecast has suddenly been glitching

As of today, whenever I've been trying to play a video on YouTube, it will freeze as soon as it starts, but the audio will continue. I can still watch regular TV and do other things on Chromecast just not watch YouTube videos. Also I then have to just turn the TV off fully, and when I turn it back on, the Chromecast home page will show some glitching specks across the screen. This just started randomly this evening.

I have the same problem with youtube. Until last night I watched YouTube all day at 1440p, now it's set to 240p and the video pauses (while the audio continues) every minute or so. My chromecast with google tv auto-updated earlier that day, so I'm thinking it's got to do with that. Would love some help figuring this out please!

I'm currently bedbound waiting for brain surgery that is going to have to be postponed because I found out I have shingles today. I'd really love to have my one outlet back as soon as possible!

Running into the same issue! None of the recommended troubleshooting tips have helped one bit.

I figured out a workaround for the moment that let's me watch youtube again, but it's not something that everyone will be able to do.

I have a nordvpn subscription, so I downloaded their app to my chromecast, connected to the fastest server, and now youtube will play at 1440p again.

I'm not tech savvy, so I don't know why it's working, but I thought I'd let y'all know what worked for me in case it helps. Good luck, and I hope google gets onto it soon!
