I was trying to connect my nest wired camera to the Google home app and have tried all the troubleshooting steps even doing a factory reset to it but it does not seem to connect. I have been trying to connect it to the app and the light is a slow blinking blue which it seems it is trying to connect but does not show up as a device in the Google home app. How should I go about connecting it?

Hi kcorp11,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry to hear that your Nest Camera is not connecting to the Google Home App. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

What Nest Camera model do you have? 1st Generation or 2nd Generation?

Does the app show any error codes or messages?

Since you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps for your Nest Camera, let's move on to some more advanced solutions:

Checking Network Settings:

Network Name and Password: Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when trying to reconnect your Nest Camera. A typo can prevent a successful connection.

Guest Network: Make sure your Nest Camera isn't connected to a guest network. Guest networks often have limitations on device communication, which can cause issues with Nest Camera.

5 GHz Network: I understand that you already tried it, but some Nest Camera might not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router offers separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting Nest Camera to the 2.4 GHz network specifically.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

Network Reset (if comfortable): If you're comfortable with it, consider restarting your Wi-Fi router. This can sometimes clear up communication issues between your Nest device and the network.

Nest/Google Home App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet. Updates often contain bug fixes related to network connectivity for Nest devices.

Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your Nest Camera to factory settings. This will erase all its data and settings, including Wi-Fi information. Note: Before resetting, make sure you know your Wi-Fi network name and password for re-setup.

Check for Nest camera error codes or setup messages.

In case it helps, follow the steps from this guide to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Mario
