Operating Matter devices offline

I’m anxious to upgrade my wifi smart lights and plugs to Matter-capable ones to experience the cloudless benefits. However, in the event of an Internet outage, the Nest speakers and displays I use to control the smart devices, becomes useless. What is the workaround? Will the Home app on my phone still work? Will Nest speakers and displays eventually work with Matter devices during Internet interruptions?

I appreciate you taking the time to post in the community, replying to your question that devices that work with matter will continue working even if you don't have access to the internet because all matter devices use a local network to talk to each other.
