I have chromecast 3 and i put that on epson projector, when i want to casting that chromecast using source "cast screen" on google chrome, that chrome cast didn't connect, however "cast tab" worked. Previously the casting was fine but after update macOS Sequoia, casting was eror.

Thanks for your response,

I have tried all of them, and nothing happens. I tried reinstall chrome and install chrome canary for connect chromecast but chromecast still can't connect

but the error message is Casting desktop audio is not supported on this device

Check if other devices can cast successfully (for example, phones, tablets, computers) to determine if the same behavior happens.
Turn on the local network.

On your Mac computer, open System Settings.
Select Privacy & Security and then Local Network. You’ll find Chrome in the list of apps.
Turn on Local Network for Chrome to allow access to your network. This will allow permissions for your device to discover Cast-enabled devices.

Reboot your Google device.

Remove the streaming device from the power source.
Leave the device unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.

Reboot the casting device.
Reboot your Wi-Fi router.

Hi Daniel,

I tried with others device, like Handphone android and laptop windows, there's no problem but when i tried with antoher mac computer, chromecast can't connect.

the chromecast can't connect when i connected with cast desktop but when i connected with cast tab chromecast works

Perform a factory reset on your Chromecast. For your reference, you can visit this article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.
Make sure that your Google Chromecast and casting devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Let me add some light to the issue. Sadly no solutions still. Cannot cast full screen on internal display for M1 Mac.

I have the same problem, casting a tab is no issue.
Casting the full screen on external monitor is OK
But casting full screen on internal Mac screen gets "Casting desktop audio is not supported"
If I restart my Mac, I can cast the internal screen (full screen) for a short time then it stops.
Another colleague with M1 Macbook Air - just like mine also has the same issue. We both have
- Sequoia 15.1.1
- Chrome 131.0.6778.109
I have another coworker on a M1 Pro with Chrome 130.0.6723.117 and he has no problems.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for sharing that information. I understand how frustrating it must be that this situation hasn't been resolved. So check these troubleshooting steps.

Uninstall and reinstall Google Chrome.
Download Chrome Canary.
Open Canary and install the Cast extension.

If Google Chrome isn’t allowed to accept connections, it won’t be able to communicate with the streaming device. Check that Google Chrome allows this by following the steps below:
In the top left corner, click the Apple icon.
Open System Preferences, then Security & Privacy, and then Firewall.
If the firewall is enabled, go to Firewall options (otherwise, skip the remaining steps).
If Block all incoming connections is enabled, disable this setting, save the settings, reboot Google Chrome (completely exit and then open the browser), and try again.
If Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections is enabled, ensure there isn't an entry for Google Chrome in the application list.
If Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections isn't enabled, click the Add button and then select Google Chrome in "Applications."
