Google Home Icon is red

Not sure this is the right forum. I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong location.
I'm brand new to Google Home/Nest

On the Google Home favorites tab, upper left corner, the home icon is always red.
When I click on the red icon, it says 'Can't connect, wait a moment and try again'.
Everything appears to work correctly, so there isn't a problem that I'm aware of.
I can detect all of my sensors, view cameras, unlock doors, etc. I can call out to 'Hey google, shut off my master bedroom light', and it works.
It's been this way since I set up google home.
I've rebooted everything, but besides that, everything does appear to work.

So I don't understand why it says 'Can't connect'.

Probably a dumb NOOB mistake. Why exactly is this red, if everything appears to work correct?

I've been noticing this issue for a few months now as well and have no idea why.
