Using Nest Thermostat to Monitor Barn Temperatures?

Hi there,
I manage a small horse stable in Cyprus and was wondering — can the Nest Thermostat reliably monitor and alert for temperature changes in a semi-outdoor setting like a barn?

I’m looking for remote access features and possibly some automation.
Anyone tried this?
