Nest Protect replacement First Alert

Well, Google has decided to partner with First Alert to replace smoke/CO detectors. Here in Canada they are not available in stores or from First Alerts website, only on Amazon. Where it could take 1-2 months for delivery. I did email First Alert asking when they would have stock through their website, no response. So Google partners with a company where their product is only available through Amazon. Can't even purchase through the Google store, it links you to First Alert. Looks like it's time to switch brands.

There are plenty of the older Nest Protect (new and used) on ebay. I got one there a few months ago and it works great. I would jump to something else but I have (4) others and wanted to keep the group working as one.

I am also in Canada , the simple fact is , we are not a large enough market for lots of companies to make products to sell here , especially due to our language and marking laws. Saying this, they may come out eventually , we just have to be patient sadly.
