Can't add Spotify to Google Home

Hey all - looking for some help connecting a Spotify account to my Google Home. I've seen all the guides on how to do it (go to Music, Spotify, link account, etc) - but unfortunately for me these don't work!

I follow the steps and try to connect Spotify, it switches to the Spotify app and a tick appears, but then nothing happens. I've repeated this process dozens of times, always the same result, and have deleted & reinstalled both apps. For some reason they're not talking to each other.

The only two variables are as follows: i) I have a Premium Spotify account, opened in Singapore when I lived there, but I have now moved back to the UK. ii) My Google account is an @googlemail.com account, whereas Spotify is @Gmail.com Would either of these make a big difference, and if so can anyone suggest a solution?

Any help appreciated as I have two wonderful Nests to install, and yet can't listen to music anywhere in the house!

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's sort this out.

Was it working before? I recommend using a regular Google Account so that you can link your Spotify account to your Google Home. Using a different account to your Google Nest device might restrict you in using some features.

Let us know if using a regular Google account works.
